The Road Block Between You & Your Goals

I'm gonna get right to the point today- It's you.

You're the road block.

However, not in the way you're probably thinking.

You might be thinking, yeah, yeah, I know, I'm the problem, but the thing is, it's not really YOU, it's just your APPROACH.

You see, most of us creative entrepreneurial types are not the naturally organized people that are just born productive. We're wired differently.

Ever notice how those kids at school that made the perfect grades all the time, always had their homework done, and obeyed every rule ended up working as the perfect employee in a job that they probably don't even enjoy?

Meanwhile, we were the kids challenging the teacher's statements, smoking in the bathroom between classes, and skipping school altogether whenever we got the chance and we're also the ones who grew up to create our own jobs, run our own empires, and work as little as possible doing it.

Our brains are wired to change the rules, to create, and to lead. That's why we got into so much trouble as kids for rebelling and sometimes even for just being ourselves. We didn't fit into the boxes we were placed in.

People tend to think of productive as following all the rules and doing what you're supposed to do, instead of just what you feel like doing.

Since we're wired to operate on our intuition and emotions because that's what leads us to our big discoveries, "I don't feel like it" really takes charge for us.

Therefore, in order to accomplish daily goals or to create positive new habits in our lives and businesses, we need to trick ourselves into making it happen.

We have to feed our need for freedom while also creating enough structure and routine to get things done.

Basically, we need to make it fun and/or easy to accomplish and take away any potential to fail.

Here's a few steps to making that happen:

  1. Block off time in your calendar to actually do the thing you want to do, including the planning required to make it happen.
  2. Ensure you have everything you need in front of you the day before you want to implement.
  3. Eliminate/remove anything that will create a distraction or allow for a bad choice.
  4. Pay attention to your natural behaviors and tendencies- make necessary allowances.
  5. Don't try to force yourself into the box where you don't fit. There's no box for you so stop trying to make one. Do what works for YOU.

I went live in my facebook group today and gave several great real life examples of this. Catch the replay of that here and you'll learn:
